What a wedding photographer actually costs in Austria.
Most of this industry answers this question with 'it depends'. Here is the number, what sits behind it, and the range the rest of the market sits in.
A wedding photographer in Austria costs roughly 1,500 to 4,000 euro for a full day, and the spread inside that band is mostly experience and how many hours you book. That is the short answer, and the rest of this page is the long one.
We publish our prices because the question is asked constantly and almost nobody answers it. You should be able to work out whether we are in your budget without sending an enquiry and waiting two days for a PDF.

Our prices
Photography and film are two different people and two separate prices. Book one and you pay for one. Book both and the two add together — there is no bundle discount, because it is genuinely two people working a full day.

These are final prices. No VAT is added — this is a registered Austrian small business (Kleinunternehmer, §6 Abs 1 Z 27 UStG).
What the rest of the market charges
These are the bands we see on Austrian photographers' own published price pages. We sit in the middle one. We are telling you this because a number without context is not much use, and because the band you choose matters more than which photographer you pick inside it.
Under 1,500 euro
Usually someone building a portfolio, or a few hours of coverage rather than a day. A legitimate choice and sometimes the right one — just understand you are buying a different thing.
1,500 to 2,500 euro
The working middle of the Austrian market for a full day. Experienced, insured, with backup equipment and a delivery process that has survived a few hundred weddings.
2,500 to 4,000 euro
Full-day coverage from someone in demand, often with an album, a second discipline, or a longer day included. Above roughly 4,000 you are usually paying for a name.
What it costs by length
These are separate questions people actually type, so here are separate answers.
Two hours
We do not sell two-hour wedding coverage, and we would gently push back on the idea. Two hours covers a registry ceremony and nothing either side of it. If you want a short, focused shoot, a couple session is 690 euro for two to three hours and gives you far more usable frames.
Four to five hours
Our half day, from 1,490 euro. Ceremony and portraits, or an elopement. Enough for the day to breathe without covering the whole thing.
Six hours
Between our tiers. In practice we quote the half day plus extra hours at 260 euro each, so around 1,760 to 2,020 euro — or the full day, which is usually better value by the time you reach six.
Eight hours
Our full day, from 2,490 euro. Preparation through dinner. This is what most Austrian weddings actually need and what most couples book.
Twelve hours
From 3,990 euro. First light to the dance floor, including the party. Nothing gets cut because the clock ran out.
Booking by the hour is uncommon in Austria and usually works out worse for you. Extra hours beyond a collection are 260 euro. A whole day priced hourly would land well above the collection price, because the editing does not scale down with the shooting time.
Why it costs what it costs
The shooting day is roughly a third of the work.
- A full day produces several thousand frames. Culling, colour grading by hand and delivering the set takes longer than the wedding did.
- Scouting, a timing plan built around the light, and a fallback for every outdoor location, all before the day.
- Insurance, backup bodies, backup cards, backup drives. A wedding cannot be reshot, so everything is duplicated.
- Travel at 0.50 euro per kilometre from Salzburg, and the day we cannot take another booking.
Cost questions, answered
Straight answers, including the market range rather than only our own numbers.
Between roughly 1,500 and 4,000 euro for full-day coverage, depending on experience and hours. Our own collections are 1,490 euro for a half day, 2,490 for a full day and 3,990 for twelve hours. Photography and film are priced separately because they are two different people.
Because the shooting day is about a third of the job. A full day generates several thousand frames that are then culled, graded by hand and delivered, on top of scouting, planning, insurance and duplicated equipment. A wedding cannot be reshot, so everything has a backup. Once you add the days of editing to the day of shooting, the day rate stops looking like a day rate.
Ours are 260 euro for hours added to a collection. Almost nobody in Austria sells a whole wedding by the hour, and where they do it usually costs more than the equivalent collection, because the editing workload does not shrink with the coverage.
The working middle of the Austrian market is about 1,500 to 2,500 euro for a full day. Below that you are usually looking at someone building a portfolio or at part-day coverage; above roughly 4,000 you are paying for a name.
We price film exactly like photography — 1,490 euro for a half day, 2,490 for a full day, 3,990 for twelve hours — because it is the same day of work by a different specialist. Booking photography and film together means two people and both prices, so a full day of both is 4,980 euro.
The same as anywhere else we work: 1,490, 2,490 or 3,990 euro depending on hours. Salzburg is our base, so there is no travel to add here. Elsewhere in Austria travel is 0.50 euro per kilometre from Salzburg.
Most couples book nine to fourteen months out. Peak summer Saturdays in Salzburg and the lake country go first, often more than a year ahead. Off-season and weekday dates stay open far longer.
Thirty percent on placing the order confirms the date, and the balance is due two weeks before the wedding. A date is only held once the deposit has cleared, which matters for peak summer Saturdays.
Travel is 0.50 euro per kilometre driven from our base in Salzburg, quoted with the collection. Salzburg and the surrounding lake country add little; a distant valley adds more. Vienna, for example, is about 300 km each way. Locations outside Austria, multi-day weddings and winter dates are quoted individually.
